The Liberal and Nationals’ Government has committed $2 million to secure the future of the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club.
Recent engineering inspections undertaken by Waverley Council have found the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club facilities to be in major need of reconstruction. Today’s announcement will allow the Club to progress its planned rebuild.
Liberal candidate for Wentworth, Dave Sharma, advocated for the funding and has today welcomed the announcement.
“Based on my discussions with the local community, it’s clear that in its present condition the Bronte Surf Life Saving Club is struggling in to cope with ever increasing lifesaving demands,” Mr Sharma said.
“The Club needs substantial work to be up to speed with modern day standards and I’m delighted that the Federal Government has committed $2 million to support the Bronte SLSC volunteers.”
Club Director David Finninmore said he has been working closely with Dave Sharma over the past month to secure the funding.
“Dave has been really approachable and supportive. He listened to our needs, and has been tirelessly advocating for us – it has been really impressive, and this funding will be a complete game changer for our Club and community going into the future.”
Club President Basil Scaffidi said the club and its members are extremely grateful for Mr Sharma’s support.
“With this support from the Government, the Club will now be able to undertake a much needed rebuild,” Mr Scaffidi said.
This funding is yet another example of how only a member of the Government can deliver real benefits to the people of Wentworth.
